Founded by Jelissa Thomas in 2019, Mason's Playhouse Drop-In Childcare Center was established in order to provide parents with an alternative to traditional daycare (it didn't exist so she created it from scratch).
A place that would be their flexible back up care and be available after hours. A place where their kids could have fun while the parents completed activities by their selves. A place that kids would beg to come to and never want to leave!
At Mason’s Playhouse, we help parents say yes to living life on their terms. We offer on-demand childcare when they need it whether it’s late night, weekends, or overnight at an hourly price.
The goal of Mason’s Playhouse is to provide quality short-term child care benefiting the child, the parent, the staff and the community.
How Drop In Care Works

CHILD CARE FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQS) WHAT IS DROP-IN/SHORT-TERM CHILD CARE?
Drop-in/short-term child care is defined by law in G.S. 110-86(2)(d)(d1) as a child care arrangement where care is provided while parents participate in activities that are not employment related, and where the parents are on the premises or otherwise easily accessible.
Drop-in/short-term care child care would be used by parents who need care while they occasionally run errands or participate in leisure activities. The operation must be able to reach the parent by telephone, cell phone, or pager, etc., if they are not on the premises. The parent must be able to get back to the program within 15 minutes.
